Rocket Pocket Door FAQs
What is a Pocket Door kit?
A pocket door kit creates the space inside the wall to allow a door to slide into it, conversely to a hinged door which opens into a room. The Rocket Pocket Door kit includes a steel pocket which takes the place of the wall. Then, this is covered by drywall on each side. The track that comes with the kit allows your door to be top-hung leaving the floor free of obstructions.
How do I choose the right size?
Can I use the Rocket Pocket Door kit for double pocket doors?
Yes! Just buy two singles and join them together.
What is the maximum weight and thickness of a door the Rocket Pocket Door kit can be used with?
The Rocket Pocket Door kit can be used with a door thickness of 1-3/8 in. – 1-3/4 in. and maximum weight of 130 lbs.
Does the kit come with some sort of door damper or soft close mechanism to stop the door from slamming?
All Rocket Pocket Door kits are supplied with a soft braking mechanism. This is made from spring steel and will brake the door closing under normal circumstances.
If you want a soft closing mechanism check out our accessory section.
What is the studwork thickness?
The Rocket Pocket Door kit is designed to be used with 2×4 studs and standard 1/2 in. drywall.
Drywall screws are provided.
More layers of drywall can be added to increase the wall thickness. Please ensure that any screws used to attach the extra layers do not protrude into the pocket.
Do I need a jamb kit?
The Rocket Pocket Door kit has been specifically designed to minimize the need for a jamb kit. The walk through area can easily be lined with the 90-degree angle profile for a flat architrave or by a simple flat timber jamb covering the internal sections and your own architrave on the outside.
